Crochet Afghan with RidgesIndividual panels are worked and then crocheted together for this 38 x 60 inch afghan. To widen panels, chain a number of stitches divisible by five and then add four more, increasing the number of pattern ridges worked. There are four stitches between each pattern stitch, as well a at either end of each panel. The length of each panel is determined by the number of pattern rows worked. The border can be increased or decreased accordingly. For this 38 x 60 inch you need:
Panel A: (Make 4, each having 1 pattern at ridge across) With A: ch 9. Row 1: Keeping all loops on hook, pull up loop in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 9 lps on hook. To work off lps, yo, pull through first lp, *yo, pull through next 2 lps, repeat from * across until one lp remains. Note: Lp remaining on hook always counts as first st of next row. Row 2: Keeping all lps on hook, sk first vertical bar, pull up lp under each of remaining vertical bars - 9 lps on hook. Work off lps as in Row 1. Repeat Row 2 two more times, working 4 complete afghan st rows. Pattern Row: Continue working in this manner alternating Row 2 pattern row until 90 pattern rows have been worked, end with Row 2 worked. At end of last repeat bind off as follows: *pull up lp in 2nd vertical bar and through lp on hook, repeat from * to end of row. Fasten off. Panel B: (Make 2, each having 4 pattrn st ridges across) With color A, ch 24. Work first 4 rows as for Panel A. Pattern Row: Continue working in this manner alternating Row 2 and pattern row until 90 pattern rows have been worked, end with Row 2 worked, fasten off as before. Panel C: (Make 1, having 5 pattern st ridges across) With color A, ch 29. Work first 4 rows as for Panel A. Pattern Row: Continue working in this manner, alternating Row 2 and pattern row until 90 pattern rows have been worked, ending with Row 2 worked, fasten off as before. Finishing: Joining: Border: Row 5: Ch 4, *sk next sc, dc in next sc, repeat from * around entire afghan, working (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in each corner. Row 6 and 7: Work even in sc.
